Visitor Guidelines

VISITATION POLICY (Updated June 2023)

POLICY AND PROCEDURES:

Integrity Dixie Oak Manor will follow any changes in guidelines, or requirements to support emotional, and spiritual health of all residents and staff. In addition, to educate employees and visitors of residents on procedures related to infection control.

The following are the procedures to be followed relating to visitation at our community. 

​

VISITOR GUIDELINES – General

  • Visitation is permitted at all times as long as they do not infringe upon another resident’s rights. Visiting hours are between 9am and 9pm at a minimum. Visitations for at least 2 hours can be conducted daily. Upon request, the community shall make provisions to extend visiting hours for caregivers and out-of-town guests, and in other similar situations visitors can make arrangements in advance with the administrator.

  • All visitors must sign in and out on the Visitor Log at the front entrance.

  •  The community does not require proof of vaccination or immunization status

 

 In-person visitation will be allowed in all of the following circumstances, unless the resident objects:

1. End-of-life situations.

2. A resident who was living with family before being admitted to the community is struggling with the change in environment and lack of in-person family support.

3. The resident, client, or patient is making one or more major medical decisions.

4. A resident is experiencing emotional distress or grieving the loss of a friend or family member who recently died.

5. A resident needs cueing or encouragement to eat or drink which was previously provided by a family member or caregiver.

6. A resident who used to talk and interact with others is seldom speaking.

 

  • While it is not recommended to enter the community during an outbreak due to health and safety concerns, visitors are permitted to enter, understanding the increased risk of transmission of air born illness or other communicable disease. If for any reason we need to restrict visitation due to health and safety concerns, we will provide alternative visitation protocols. 
     

  • Although discouraged, visitors may conduct a visit with a resident in quarantine and isolation. The visit must take place in the resident room and additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided to visitors entering Residents in isolation in accordance with the infection control protocols are followed. The visitor or Essential Caregivers will review our instructional guide on infection control procedures including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), use of surgical or KN95 masks, and hand sanitation.
     

  •  A staff member of the community is designated to support infection control and prevention by providing information on the visitation policy to the visitors.
     

  • The Administrator is designated as the person responsible for ensuring that staff members adhere to the visitation policies and procedures.
     

  • Visitation by Essential Caregivers is permitted. Efforts to continue General Visitation even when a positive resident is residing in the community shall be made, and protocols shall be implemented at the discretion of the Administrator. 
     

  • Visitors must immediately inform the community if they develop symptoms consistent with a communicable disease within 24-hours of their last visit at the community.
     

  • Visitors are expected to follow the visitation guidelines implemented by the community, in order to maintain the health and safety of all residents per the Community’s Infection Control Policies.
     

  • Visitors not willing to follow the core principles of our policy and procedures and our community infection control policies outlined on this document will not be permitted in the community or may be asked to leave the community.

 

VISITOR GUIDELINES – Upon Arrival

 

All residents and visitors, have the option to wear facial coverings.

 

Hand hygiene is highly recommended before and after visitation. Hand sanitizer is available for use. Please review our instructional guides on our infection control procedures.

 

Visitors are required to participate in a temperature screening during the entrance process.

 

Visitors who have symptoms of illness or other communicable disease, or currently meet the criteria for quarantine, will not be permitted to enter the community.

 

VISITOR GUIDELINES – During Visit

            

  • Visitors and residents can utilize our Outdoor visitation spaces that are protected from weather elements, such as porches, courtyard, or other covered areas that are protected from heat and sun, with cooling devices, if needed.
     

  • Consensual physical contact is permitted between the resident and visitors. No social distancing is required.
     

  • Although there is not currently a limit on the number of visitors that are permitted at a given time, please note that social distancing can be accommodated during visitation, if applicable. In certain occasions, limitations to visitors may apply to ensure safety measures can be met per the Community’s Infection Control Policies.

 

Per Section 429.28 (1)(d) Florida Statute, the resident (or their representative) will read and sign the visitation policy and procedures. The acknowledgement of the signature represents that the resident (or their representative) understands that both Visitors and Essential Caregiver visitor must abide by the policies set forth in this document.
